EUIPO
EU trademark representation / EUIPO
Representation before the EUIPO for existing EU trademark applications and registrations, including international registrations designating the EU.
Scope of the takeover
- Review of the supplied documents, current office communication and deadlines for the takeover.
- Appointment or replacement of the representative, reporting on submission and checking that the appointment has been recorded.
- The appointment required to resolve an objection concerning missing representation is included. Other objections require a separate response.
Information to have ready
Please provide the office, trademark or IR number, proprietor details, your firm’s reference, current representative, any office communication and deadline, and your instructions. Confirm that your firm is authorised to appoint us for the proprietor.
How the takeover works
Send your instructions
Send the matter details and any office communication by email. Please agree urgent deadlines with us in advance.
Review and acceptance
We check the information, authority and deadlines and confirm the fee and acceptance of the engagement. Sending a request alone does not transfer responsibility for deadlines.
Appointment before the office
We notify the DPMA of the takeover or submit the appointment electronically to the EUIPO, as applicable.
Takeover report
We send your firm the submission report and check that we are recorded as representative.
Further proceedings
Office communications and oppositions are handled on the same terms as for our trademark filing services. Additional work is agreed with your firm.
Continued representation
We remain recorded as representative after completion of the initial assignment. Further services and any change of representative are arranged separately.
Additional charges
| Service | Charge |
|---|---|
| Translation of the goods and services specification | €10 per class |
| Handling a deadline-bearing official communication: forwarding, translation, and recording and monitoring the deadline | €45 per communication |
| Simple response to an office action based on your firm’s specific instructions | €85 |
For an office objection, this handling fee also covers the brief initial assessment and the estimate for further work described in the procedure. Preparing or filing a substantive response requires separate agreement.
A fixed fee of €85 covers preparation and filing of a simple response based on your firm’s specific instructions. This is additional to the €45 fee for handling a deadline-bearing communication. Further legal assessment, substantive drafting and opposition work require separate agreement. VAT applies where applicable. This fixed fee takes precedence over hourly billing and carries no additional document fee.
Professional charges exclude VAT where applicable. Responses to office objections and opposition proceedings are charged separately.
