Portal access is available by invitation. Contact us with your firm’s details to request access.
Request portal accessTell us about your firm and whether your matter concerns a trademark, a utility model or a German or European patent. We confirm the next steps and arrange portal access where applicable.
Where the service is available in the portal, we invite your firm to set up its account after reviewing your request. For other matters, we agree how you should send your instructions and documents.
For portal services, enter the required information and save a draft if needed. For utility model filings, send the application documents ready for filing, including the description, claims and any drawings. Patent documents and any drafting or review work are agreed separately.
Check the application details, fees and scope of service. Saving a draft does not place an order.
We review your submitted instructions and confirm acceptance of the engagement before filing the application.
We file the application on your instructions and email your firm the filing report, application number and filing receipt. We issue our invoice after filing. Our invoice states the payment deadline needed for timely payment of the official fees, which we pay once your payment has been received. Following registration, we send the registration report and certificate. Official communications are forwarded in their original language, with translations where required under your firm’s language preferences. The €45 fee applies to each official communication setting a deadline and includes recording and monitoring that deadline. For an office objection, it also includes a brief initial assessment and an estimate for further work. Filing a response supplied by your firm in final form costs €85 and does not include drafting, reviewing or substantively amending it. Detailed legal analysis, response preparation or review, and representation in opposition proceedings require separate instructions.
Choose your preferred interface language from those available in the Filing Portal. This choice does not determine the language of the proceedings, our correspondence or any translations.
You receive the filing report with the application number and filing receipt and, following registration, the registration report and certificate.
No. You can first prepare the information as a draft. Instructions are submitted at the designated step in the portal.
Yes. Select the language of the specification you supply in the Filing Portal. Translation into German or English costs €10 per class. Translation into another language requires prior agreement.
For urgent filings, please agree the required filing date with us in advance.
No. The competent office decides on the application. Official objections and third-party rights may affect registration.
We write to your firm in German or English, as you prefer. If you would like correspondence in another language, we provide our message in English, or German if requested, together with a translation into your preferred language. We always forward official communications in their original language. Where a translation is needed, we also provide it in the language requested by your firm. This may differ from the language used for our correspondence. For firms corresponding with us in German, we translate foreign-language official communications on request. You can set these preferences once for your firm and request different arrangements for any individual matter. The language of our correspondence and the language of translations are independent of the application’s procedural language or languages. These translations are included in the applicable service fees. Translation of the goods and services specification is a separate service charged at the stated rate.
Contact us to arrange access for your firm or discuss rates based on your filing volume.
